The long awaited Desktop RoboTurret v2 is now available! Our hugely popular RoboTurret kit has been revamped, redesigned, and is better than ever! We set out with the goal of creating a simple and affordable physical computing platform based upon our own experience and the feedback we received from the first revision of this kit, and this is the result.
The intent of this kit is to provide a compact physical computing platform that is easily programmable using the Arduino programming environment. The default kit ships with a Wii Nunchuk Joystick controller to give experimenters some easy to use sensors to get started with. The Wii Nunchuk was chosen as it provides a 2-axis joystick, 3 axis accelerometer, and 2 push buttons all in one easy-to-use package. Most digitial and analog sensors can also be interfaced to this kit through the Grove Sensor Shield, allowing builders to customize their project however they see fit. It also includes a micro laser with mount.

So what changed from the first version?
The MosquitIO Microcontroller that we had designed for the first iteration served its purpose well, but with the introduction of easy to use IO shields and less-expensive Arduino-compatible microcontrollers, we decided to retire the MosquitIO in favor of an off-the-shelf solution.
For the same price as the old kit, builders now get a full Arduino feature set, more IO, USB programming capabilities, modular cable and sensor ports, a micro-laser, and Wii Nunchuk Joystick support (not included) with a 2-axis joystick, 3 axis accelerometer, and 2 buttons. The RoboTurret can be programmed without customization to the Arduino IDE and directly from the integrated USB, and is compatible with a wide range of code libraries and peripherals out there in the Arduino Ecosystem.

What does this use for brains?
The Seeeduino is an Arduino-compatible board. Its design is based on Diecimila scheme, 100% compatible to existing programs, shields and IDEs. On the hardware however, many changes have been made to improve the flexibility and user experience.
Arduino is an open-source electronics prototyping platform based on flexible, easy-to-use hardware and software. It's intended for artists, designers, hobbyists, and anyone interested in creating interactive objects or environments.
Arduino can sense the environment by receiving input from a variety of sensors and can affect its surroundings by controlling lights, motors, and other actuators. The microcontroller on the board is programmed using the Arduino programming language (based on Wiring) and the Arduino development environment (based on Processing). Arduino projects can be stand-alone or they can communicate with software on running on a computer (e.g. Flash, Processing, MaxMSP).
